Why is there no Resident Evil 5 on the Wii?
A frequently asked question by numbers of Nintendo owning fans that want their slice of the main Resident Evil 5. Usually, the PS3/360 owners will go into a rehearsed speech as to how the little Nintendo machine just isn't as powerful and doesn't have the 'digital testosterone' to pull off such a feat. But is this indeed the case?
Capcom has stated that until now visually it would be impossible for RE5 Wii, supporting Sony and Microsoft’s fan boys in their Nintendo bashing but after all the technical pizzazz that the developers are managing to get for the upcoming Darkside Chronicles, a Nintendo version of Resident Evil 5 may no longer be just a pipedream.
Masachika Kawata, producer of Resident Evil 5, spoke to British magazine GamesTM recently - and was asked the aforementioned question: Would Resident Evil 5 work on the Wii?
His response was:
Hypothetically speaking, the Resident Evil 4 engine would work perfectly for replicating the gameplay but we would never be able to recreate the graphical quality. A gun shooting game like Darkside Chronicles makes much more sense for Wii so, in short, Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition isn't likely to happen. Having said that, Cavia has surprised us with the quality of graphics in Darkside Chronicles, so it may actually be possible after all...
So with Capcom committed to releasing their mainline franchise for Nintendo platforms, will we see or do the fans even want a version of Resident Evil 5 for the Nintendo Wii.

If the graphics can at least be close to what we saw in the ps3/360 version...then yes. DSC has really good graphics for being just a wii game, I think they should start testing it. Even if they have to take off things like mercenaries the the unlockable features for space (or put them on a separate disc) I'd love to see my favorite game played more as if I was there. Cross your fingers xD

well i'm not one of those people who say the wii is weak i got one to play all the gamecube resident evil and 4 umbrella chronicles on the will with some others and i really hope they do re5 for the wii and i also say re5 shoud'nt of gone on xbox360 just the wii and ps3

Whats wrong with the 360 getting Resident Evil 5, why should it only be for PS2 and Wii. Its coming out for PC as well, but why the feeling of hostility?
I'm all for multiformat on any machine that can handle a game really, that way more people get to play it. It will be the same as RE4 wii edition, if you have played it before, then I personally don't feel it is worth getting a game again just for a slightly different control method. If you haven't played it, then it will be a good purchase on Wii, unless of course the final product is so technically limited that there is a vast frop in quality.

Please let this happen!
I only have a Wii, and I really dont want to go out and buy a 360 Arcade just to play RE5! Especially since RE4 Wii Edition controls were amazing.

As a Wii-owner and someone who's played through RE5 multiple times, I'd have to ask, why would anyone want RE5 on the Wii anyways? It was a disappointment before, it'll just be an even bigger disappointment again.
The only good reason to make a Wii edition would be if they included bonus scenarios and explored areas of the storyline Capcom neglected. Mainly, everything that happened with Jill =]

I agree Knuckles 313. I thought for the amount of hype that Resident Evil 5 got it should have been alot better. I was hugely dissapointed buy the story. The game play was just a modified RE 4 type clone. While the graphics were pretty it wasn't innovating and honestly nothing we haven't seen before. A Resident Evil 5 wii edition might help with Wii owners who missed out on 5. As a wii owner however I would buy this game if it were to come out simply for the collection and thats about it. So yeah I would say go ahead Capcom do your stuff....just rememeber Fear can't kill you but a poorly thought out Resident Evil game can really ween you off the series......

I don't know, I agree with the dude above me, the only reason I think it would be worth it is if they included some more material. I thought the PS2/Wii versions of RE4 were way worth it just for Separate Ways. If they did something like that, for like Jill or something, that would be killer. New cutscenes are cool too, I loved Code Veronica X way better than just plain old Code Veronica and it didn't really have that much extra stuff. I actually thought the Wii controls for RE4 made the game too easy, but it is still my favorite version to play. Once I have already beat a game, I don't care if it is challenging or not, if I ever get the craving, I can just play on Professional.

Hes saying no then yes so he is basicly giving no answer what so ever. but i doubt capcom would miss a chance to make another profit off this game so i give it a year and so.

I don't know if re 5 should come to the wii. mainly because the graphic quality would be so different and also If they went through all the trouble to do that, why can't capcom just make a original game? All these side stories and ports are getting boring and I think fans will get fed up and re will become just another mediocre title. Also I agree that resident evil 5 should never have been on the 360, RE was a playstation original and should never have gone into microsofts corrupt hands.

I think I still much have a full remake (Using RE4 WII system) of RE2 then a dumbed down version of RE5....of course zombies and other enemies would either have to be entirely boosted in strength or leons weapons completly weakened....
