I was reading through imdb.com (the internet movie database) when I stumbled on the page for "Resident Evil: Afterlife." The reaction i had to the rumored cast was nothing other then "you're kidding?" Here's a mind blower; Eva Mendes-Excella Gionne. Now it did say that it was a rumor, but the part that got me was that it was in her resume. She is a beautifull actor, and I am not doubting her skill, it is something else that bothers me.
When I saw that in "Afterlife" Excella Gionne could be part of the cast, it made me have doubts on the new movie, In my own opinion, these movies were completely ruined. I couldn't stand how the plot was not even twisted, but completely change...minus the zombies. The makers stated that "why should we make a movie exactly based off the game, it is not original" (or something along those lines). This statement drove me nuts, because these movies had no connection.
To me, plot is everything, and in the motion pictures, that has been thrown away. I have read an original script that I got off of residentevilfan.com years ago. It was an script of the original Resident Evil movie by the Zombie Man himself, George Romero. In my opinion, it was a much better adaptation than the ones out now. There were slight differences and a slightly altered plot, but it retained the main themes and main idea/points from the first game.
Here is the link to that script. Ive read it probaly 5 years ago, im surprised I was able to find it:

Now, after I ranted about that, lets get back to Excella and why this shocks me. Excella, a character never seen before in RE except the latest, possibly has a role in the new film. Does this mean the movie is taking some type of "las Plagas" turn? Or are they butchering the Resident Evil world even more. I'd love to see this idea and how it'll come out. It just hurts me inside to see what they've done with such amazing games; the plot is there, the story is there. Think of it like this; You have peanut butter, Jelly, Bread and Dr. Pepper (a great mix i'd say) and you're told to make a meal, the end result (in this case, the RE movies), you mixed the peanutbutter and jelly with the soda, and dunk the bread.

Don't ever take what IMBD says as real... EVER. They never get **** right until right before a movies release. Not that it matters anyways because the resident evil movies are ******* abominations.
I read the script from romero too and i'll add that while i would have prefered to have seen his he did no better at containing the original plot then anderson did. He also kills off major characters and adds in new people with his "story" along with people like Ada that shouldn't have been there.
Personally i hate it when people say it would be unoriginal for hollywood to take a plot from a game and keep it the same. Why should you destroy something with a great story just to say you made it how "You" wanted to see it?
Honestly its not that hard almost any fan of RE could write a better movie then both romero and anderson did. I'm sick of hollywood butchering up things that already have great stories just so that it will bring in more money from the general population. It defeats the whole purpose of doing an adaption from a video game or a book or a anime like dragon ball z. They should be making these for the FANS not for the MONEY.

well im not too bothered what they do with the next films because the films are so removed from the games now that it doesnt bother me what they do lol, i do like the films, they are fun to watch. its wierd because the RE fan in me tells me to hate the films but the other non RE part of me enjoys them.
this is a bit off topic but did anyone else think it was wierd that the guy who played Carlos looked more like chris than carlos. He didnt particularly look like chris either but he still wouldt have suited him better

I hear what you're saying, it's that inner RE fan that does it to me. I mean, they're great action movies, just not what i was hoping for.
...I cant recall his name, but Carlos' actor does alot of work here and there, popularity wise he wasn't a bad choice. The look id have to agree somewhat, but at this point (to me) looks are irrelivent (sp?).

Awww **** they plan in making a fourth movie??? No they need to stop this crap. The last three movies were completely dumb. This one will be the dumbest **** ever. At least the DOOM movie had The Rock. The RE movies just flat out suck. Hopefully some freak accident happens like some real zombies gets loose. And eats the entire cast.

Honestly at this point it's getting increasigly hard to fault the movies for shying away fromt he formula when the games ahve done the same thing.
Capcom needs to get back to the basics
when 1 came out we didn't need all these guys pulling strings, as far as I knew/cared all the people involved with he T-virus were dead already. Then it 2 when it spread it was semi-logical, viruses spread and even in1 there were reports of zombies attack dudes and again human involvement was kept to a minimum outside of a few cover ups and a commando unit going after what was made. The focus was always about you're little under dog making his or her way outta a scary place. Now everything has to crazy Matrix-like action and that sucks. If I want balls to the wall action Ill go play Devil may cry or god hand or any number of the hundreds upon hundreds of action games,
RE was never about action and it never should have been.

Resident Evil Move: Good
Resident Evil Apocalypse: Average
Resident Evil Extinction: Bad
That's how I view it. If Excella is in this, then it just MIGHT be interesting, and I love Romero's script, that is how it should of been

I HATE the Resident Evil movies because the butcher the game's great plot. They are good action movies, but should not have Resident Evil in their titles, they have nothing to do with the game but characters. I wish they would stop making them, and WTF is with Excella in the movie. I would ove movies based on each game, but sadly, these movies squash my hopes. Degeneration was better than all of them combined, we need more of those beautiful CGI films!
