I see it a s a positive move, as you said it did seem to add tension to  the game, from what i have seen of the game running. Plus the "shakey cam" effect lends well to covering up slight visual limitations that the Wii has over the PS3 and 360, so it looks a lot better in my opinion because of it as you cannot see some of the rough edges.

From your blog title, I was expecting you to relate the idea more to George Romero's "Diary Of The Dead" title as what to me was the obvious inspiration for the game feature, but i suppose everything doesn't need to be spelled out for everyone, lol.

I thought I'd write a little bit about my beast, to give a bit more detail and explanantion, I hope others follow suit.

Name: "Silent Embrace"

History: The Silent Embrace was created around 2007 by the XXXXXXXXXXXX corporation (blanked out as top secret), who created this B.O.W. after utilising information and research conducted by both the now defunct Umbrella Corporation in its experimentations on upgrading the biological T-virus and findings from the Tricell corporation on its Spanish clear up missions of the first recorded release of the Las Plagas parasite.

Older records of Umbrella's into creating hightened senses for Biological weapons, resulted in the development of a biological weapon dubbed the licker, which comes from an infected host being reinfected with another dose of T-virus. This second generation process of T-virus was used towards the creation of the Silent Embrace. The licker which is a very formiddable B.O.W. was found to develop hightened hearing, and sense of smell (through tongue) however it lost its sight. Due to this blindness, the licker can become dormant and unfocussed at times, so an extra step was needed to make this more combat effective.

The introduction of the Las Plagas parasite was agreed to be a good starting point as the effects of it to be controlable along with host parasites is invaluable. Remains of creatures found by the Tricell corporation in Spain showed that in sum circumstances, Las Plagas can lead to similar mutations of the brain that were seen in the licker class B.O.W. and so were used in the creation of the Silent Embrace.

The "Iron Maiden" which also became blind with a heightened sense of hearing was also used as part of the Silent Embrace project. A sample of recovered remains which were smuggled out of Tricell were used as a base component. One draw back to the Iron Maiden was its slowness, which was not to be found with the Licker, however its focus was far greater once it had aquired a target (due to the effects of the parasite) and it would bind its target with its spikes, close to its body before feeding. The logical conclusion was a mix of the two strains.

After reanimation of an Iron Maiden, using a T virus strain, negative effects were noted and the creature would continue to degrade until it became ineffective for combat. This was circumvented by obtaining a viral sample from an infected degrading Iron Maiden and using it on a healthy human host. Samples are introduced into the right arm along with a Las Plagas parasite. After several hours, the subject grows through various forms of mutation and starts to resemble an Iron Maiden based B.O.W.

Several unexpected effects were noticed at this stage, such as the parasite remaining predominantly stationary within the right arm location. It is also observed to keep the primary infection area mutation free, so the arm resembles that of the original host.

It is after approximately 12 hours, that the introduction of the unstable licker strain of T-virus was injected into the Las Plagas parasite within the arm. This caused a rapid mutation that ocurrs within minutes, where the T-Virus and the Las Plagas parasite attack each other within the body. The mutations include the licker like features coming through in the hosts head along with the mutation of extra arms being formed. By what is assumed to be an extension of the V-ACT process, (which at this time we cannot confirm for sure), the Las Plagas and the secondary T-virus become dormant and nullify each other, becoming stable and it is the original T virus strain that becomes the catalyst which mutates and causes the growth of the alternative limb to where the virus is introduced to the body (i.e. the left arm). This results in said arm becoming enlarged and growing in mass and strength, forming a spiked arm that resembles that of one of Umbrella's flagship B.O.W.s, the Tyrant. This was an unexpected yet highly satisfactory accident to proceedings.

Combat Effectiveness: The finished Silent Embrace, shares many traits with the aforementioned creatures. It is more agile than an Iron Maiden, much like a Licker, but retains its ability to capture prey utilising its spikes. Whilst it has its foe in its 'silent embrace', it uses a claw weapon that we attached to the healthy arm to disembowel. The Tyrant arm can also be used in this embrace, but the creature finds in unwieldly at close distances, much preferring to lunge at prey to skewer and immobilise, before capturing. The creature has also been seen sticking itself to walls and ceilings using its spikes as a way to suprise prey.

Although the Silent Embrace is still blind, its other senses are atuned very highly. The creature is very agile and has been found to work co-operatively with others of its kind, which we feel is due to the Las Plagas element to the creature.

Due to the complex nature of its creation, the Silent Embrace will not be a cheap B.O.W. to purchase, however future prices can be arranged for a 'Pack' of Silent Embraces. Mass market creation and production should be available for 2010.

[re-edited due to me being a bit dopey with the facts, lol]

I am not taking sides with anyone, people know my stance on Resident Evil 5 as i have spoken about it numerous times on relevant Resident Evil 5 related forum threads/blog posts (and generally our opinions are very similar on numerous factors.) Just because I was asking you to watch your language and behaviour towards other members as it can be considered flaming and be against the rules of the site, does not mean that I am against you in anyway, merely that I am doing a job of admin for the site.

Your quote of; " Ok you do know that if you take a player who can go through Resident evil 4 and not get hit once and can solve all puzzles in one try and do the same for 5 that 5 would come up the short one that is FACT. " is more close to a fact than anything you had mentioned before, thats why I had previously brought up the point. In this example, you give parameters to the point that changes it from being opinion to fact as your statement is now measurable and so a value of true or false can be obtained.

You have mentioned that yo have been flamed for a metaphor you used, when people were responding to he inaccuracy of the statement rather than attacking you.

As for everyone else, can they stop refueling this by being antagonistic back, I know everyone feels like they are just in swearing back and calling each other dick, ******** and all other manner of "clever" profanities that you can concoct. THis obviously applies to Predator too. You have been warned about your language which I am sure you have taken on board, the matter should be dropped now and everyone should get back on topic.

I don't agree, firstly I don't have a problem with this apparent evil group of people who like Gears of War or Halo, I for one own both those titles and liked them for what they were, (just cause something is popular doesn't mean it is bad). Also, I have been playing Resident Evil since its first release, and I feel there are probably others who are in the same boat.

It seems quite perplexing at times to think that this is what people are including as being casual games these days. It seems that people want their own little game experience that is just theirs, a special unkown gem of a game (whih is what the original Resi was). If anything Resident Evil is a victim of its own success, yes Capcom can release an unnecessary amount of spin off games for their big franchises, but it is us as gamers that cause them to repeatedly do it. If we didn't buy the bad titles that get released, then they would stop making them.

As I se it, with Resi, they stuck pretty closely to a particular formula format that was starting to great by the time RE Zero came out (probably because it should have been released a lot earlier on N64) Yes Remake was a fantastic game, but that was for us, the hardcore fans, a nostalgia trip with substantial additions (not necessarily improvements I might add, just additions) utilising a console generation shift in technology that made it such a great Resident Evil game to play.

RE4 changed the mould drastically, those of us in the survival horror mould did not like the change, but the game was still a good game, with some actual changes to the gameplay and game mechanics. The game sold really well.

Resident Evil 5 comes along after years of waiting, this was Capcom's failure, they left us hanging too long, in this time our expectations blew the game out of proportions, couple this with high expectations of yet another magical console generation jump and only something truly mind blowing would get close to what we wanted.

Sadly and expectedly Capcom didn't reach our expectations, the potential for the game had risen too much within us and it wasn't going to satisfy the way previous titles had. The game was very much in the mould of Residdent Evil 4, down to gameplay mechanics, similar enemies, etc. This would have been more excusable if there hadn't been such a time frame but there was and we feel like we have a sub par game when the game itself, if you view it as a game and not a RE title is a good game.

I've probably made these points before and I usually come to the same conclusion that every good series has at least one black sheep of the family that we don't get on with, RE5 was it and it will lower our expectations for the future, however that should mean that if they do something better, then Resident Evil 6 can blow us away again.

Nice idea DaMa, this should be a good feature and will hopefully encourage people to use more of the features on the site, like posting a blog and utilising the "likes + - " feature too.
